Shanghai, April 5, 2016 – Today, Mondelēz China and Alibaba Group signed a strategic partnership at Mondelēz China’s HQ in Shanghai. Nearly a hundred Mondelēz China staff witnessed and celebrated this significant milestone. The strategic partnership presents an exciting opportunity for the snacking industry to better tap into the potential of the e-commerce market with greater reach and a targeted focus, enabling a more interactive and satisfying shopping experience for consumers. At the signing ceremony, Stephen Maher, President of Mondelēz China and Jing Jie, Vice President of Alibaba Group, also showcased the Oreo Color-filled Pack, exclusively designed for Alibaba’s B2C e-commerce platform Tmall in China.

Oreo Color-filled Pack is a promotion designed exclusively for Tmall, and aims to create a brand new e-commerce shopping experience. The promotion represents a new, fun way for consumers to be surprised and delighted by Oreo. Looking ahead to the future, Mondelēz China will meet consumers’ continuously evolving needs by launching innovative services and products and leveraging Tmall’s e-commerce ecosystem.

Stephen Maher, President of Mondelēz China said: “At Mondelēz, we are committed to creating delicious moments of joy for our consumers. As a successful international e-commerce giant, Alibaba is the perfect platform to connect us with consumers. In 2015, Mondelēz China’s sales volume quadrupled on Tmall, which has further strengthened our confidence in this partnership. Alibaba’s Tao Village Project and Mondelēz China’s Route-to-Market Project share the common goal of expanding distribution channels and improving product accessibility. This will be a very positive collaboration that will allow us to tap the trends of China’s consumption-driven economy and e-commerce.”

“Alibaba Group enables brands to transform and elevate their entire business in China by helping them to create and manage meaningful connections with customers as well as facilitating more efficient supply chain management and distribution channels especially to rural villages,” said Jing Jie, Vice President of Alibaba Group. “We look forward to helping Mondelez fully tap into our digital media ecosystem and technology infrastructure to successfully build their brands and effectively reach the Chinese consumer.”

This strategic partnership will fully synchronize Mondelēz China and Alibaba Group’s advantages and resources to provide consumers with higher quality and more convenient services. The two companies will invest in e-commerce Media Platform, Sales Channel, Distribution Channel and Innovations. Mondelēz China will also increase its investment in Tmall, regularly launching exclusive marketing campaigns to expand consumer outreach and stimulate high quality sales growth. Consumers will be able to purchase the most comprehensive Mondelēz product portfolio through its Tmall flagship store, and enjoy top quality products and customer services. Implementing such a strategy for diversified distribution will increase the market share of Mondelēz China and enhance its market penetration rate in both rural and urban markets.
