Mondelēz International Names Stephen Maher to Lead China Business

Executive Brings 16 Years of Experience in China to Role

SHANGHAI (July 3, 2014) – Mondelēz International announced that Stephen Maher has been appointed as President, Mondelēz China. Maher brings more than 25 years of FMCG experience to the role, including 16 years of on-the-ground business experience in China.  He speaks fluent Mandarin and is a scholar of Chinese business culture.

Maher joins Mondelēz China from Carlsberg Group, where he served as Chief Executive Officer China. Prior to Carlsberg, Maher worked for two of the world’s leading global FMCG companies, Procter & Gamble and Colgate Palmolive. During his 25 years in the FMCG industry, Maher has progressed through various commercial roles of increasing responsibility and worked in Asia Pacific, Europe and the United States.

Maher graduated from Sydney University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History. His major board services include Director of Chong Qing Brewery, one of China's largest beer makers; Director of Xin Jiang Hops and Xi Xia Brewery respectively, both companies are joint ventures of Carlsberg Group in China.
