Mondelēz China Donated Biscuits and Powdered Beverages to Yao Foundation’s Basketball Season to Cheer for Young Basketball Players

[Shanghai, 11th August 2013] Mondelēz China (former Kraft Foods China) today donated 321 boxes of biscuits and 110 boxes of powdered beverages to the "Yao Foundation Hope Primary School Basketball Season", which is jointly organized by the Yao Foundation, the China Youth Development Foundation and the Chinese Basketball Association. The donation will be used for the athletes’ nutritious meals during the six-day Basketball Season hosted in West Anhui University in Lu'an. This year, 37 schools in 19 provinces in East China participated in the event; the donation will be able to provide additional energy and allow the athletes to fully enjoy the pleasure of sports.

Founded by the famous basketball player Yao Ming, the Yao Foundation is dedicated to helping the rural students in Hope Primary School to learn about basketball, understand the spirit of sports and experience teamwork through basketball.  As of today, the Yao Foundation has constructed 17 hope primary schools through the CYDF, and Mondelēz China has also established "Mondelēz Hope Kitchens" in five of them. Mondelēz Hope Kitchens aims to enhance the kitchen facilities in rural schools so that students can have hot meals and clean utensils. By the end of 2013, 250 "Mondelez Hope Kitchens" will be opened in 19 provinces and more than 125,000 students will be benefited from the project. Mondelēz China has been an active corporate participant in various charitable donations and major natural disaster relief. Since 2005, more than RMB 47 million has been donated in cash and in kind to help the people in need.
