Kraft Foods China Donates Over 7,000 Boxes of Relief Goods to Earthquakes Affected Areas in Sichuan

The First Batch of Relief Goods Reached Lushan County

Shanghai, April 22, 2013 – After a 7.0-magnitiude earthquake hit Ya'an City of Sichuan province on April 20, Kraft Foods China immediately contacted the Civil Affairs Bureau in Ya'an Municipal and Lushan County to identify the needs of the people, and quickly organized a donation of 7,075 boxes of biscuits and other products worth RMB 1.42 million from the company’s warehouses in Chengdu and Shanghai.

On the evening of April 21, the first batch of relief goods, including 3,436 boxes of biscuits were handed over to Lushan County Civil Affairs Bureau of Ya'an Municipal. The Bureau gave out the biscuits to the affected people. The second batch of relief goods left Shanghai on April 21 and is expected to arrive in Chengdu Civil Affairs assigned warehouse on April 23.
 
Shawn Warren, President of Kraft Foods China, said, "We want to express our deepest sympathy and condolences to the people affected by the earthquake.  And we sincerely hope our relief goods will help to alleviate their urgent needs.”

Kraft Foods China has been an active corporate participant in community programs and disaster relief. Since 2005, more than RMB42 million has been donated in cash and foods to help the people in need.  In Sichuan province, Kraft Foods China has built and put into use seven Kraft Hope Kitchen and one anti-earthquake Hope School.
